Field Trip to Ddhäl Ch’èl Cha Nän | Tombstone Territorial Park

One of the highlights of SOVA orientation is getting to visit Ddhäl Ch’èl Cha Nän | Tombstone Territorial Park, about a 1.5 hour drive up the Dempster Highway from Dawson. On Saturday, students visited the Interpretive Centre and hiked the Goldensides Trail, which offers spectacular panoramic views. This area is one of the most important cultural and hunting sites in the Traditional Territory of the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in, and is home to Beringian plants and insects found nowhere else on earth, along with many subarctic mammals!
